UDUAGHAN MOURNS YOBE GOVERNOR, SAYS HIS DEATH A PERSONAL LOSS

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, this morning (27-1-09) received with a deep sense of sorrow the sudden and untimely death of Governor Mamman Ali Ibrahim of Yobe State.

Reacting to the news of the death, Governor Uduaghan expressed shock that the Late Governor died at a time when his wealth of knowledge and experience was required most in the country.

Governor Uduaghan observed that as a two time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the Late Governor's immense contributions at the Senate endeared him to the people which culminated in his emergence as Governor of Yobe State.

"I recall that Mamman and I were on the entourage of the Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to India and we discussed extensively about governance at the State level. I was particularly impressed with his ideas about Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Water and was quite elated when he launched his WIMAX project in Yobe State." Governor Uduaghan stated.

Furthermore he said " I had hoped that Mamman would pull through and come back to continue with his good works aimed at enhancing the well being of his people, but God in His infinite mercy and wisdom knew better".

Governor Uduaghan said the death of the Yobe State Governor was not only a loss to the nation but a personal one to him as both of them have been exchanging ideas for the good of the nation since the trip to India.

He prayed God Almighty to grant the soul of Late Governor Mamman Ali Ibrahim eternal rest as well as grant the family, the people and Government of Yobe State the fortitude to bear the loss.
