RE - 2008 PROMOTION EXAMINATION FOR OFFICERS ON SGL's.05-10 IN THE STATE CIVIL SERVICE ELIGIBLE FOR PROMOTION IN JANUARY AND JULY, 2008

Further to the recently concluded Refresher Course for eligible officers at Labour House, Asaba; I wish to inform you that the Civil Service
Commission in collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria will conduct the 2008 promotion examination for officers on Salary Grade Level's 05 - 10 in the State Civil Service who matured for promotion on 1st January and 1st July, 2008 respectively.

2. The examination has been scheduled as follows:

Batch A:  (i)       Officers on SGL.I0

                            Date:      Thursday 28th August, 2008

                            Time:      9.00 a.m. - 11.20 a.m.

                            Venue:   Faculty of Management Sciences Lecture Hall,
                                          Delta State University, Anwai Campus,
                                          Anwai- Asaba.

                  (ii)    Officers on SGL's 07 and 08
                           Date:      Thursday 28th August, 2008 

                           Time:      9.00 a.m. -11.20 a.m
                           Venues:  Ogbeogonogo Main Hall, Delta State
                                         University, Anwai Campus, Anwai-Asaba.

 

 Batch B:            Officers on SGL.09
                          Date:      Thursday 28th August, 2008
                          Time:      12.00 p.m. - 2.20 p.m
                          Venues:  Ogbeogonogo Main Halls East and
                                        West Wings; Faculty of Management Sciences Lecture Theatre 

                                         and Nuel Ojei Hall Combined.

Batch C:          Officers on SGL's 05 and 06

                       Date:       Thursday 28th August, 2008 

                       Time:        3.00 p.m. - 5.20 p.m

                       Venues:    Ogbeogonogo Main Hall, East and West Wings; 

                                        Faculty of Management Science Lecture Theatre combined.

3.    Officers will be tested in the following subject areas:

       (i)   Professional paper (duration: One hour) which, deals with the officer's primary job schedule;

       (ii)   Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations (duration: One hour); and

       (iii)  General Knowledge (duration: 20 minutes) - which entails general knowledge/current Affairs.

  4.  Officers must be acquainted with their examination numbers and should come with Staff Identity Cards and letter of last promotion in order to be allowed to sit for the examination. The materials distributed at the Refresher Course should be revised in preparation for the examination. Candidates are advised to be of good conduct and avoid any form of examination malpractice as culprits would be sanctioned appropriately. The Commission avails itself of the opportunity to wish all officers in the grade bracket success in the examinations.

5. Heads of Departments are requested to inform concerned officers accordingly and ensure that this circular letter is given the widest publicity it deserves, please.

2007 PROMOTION EXAMINATION FOR OFFICERS ON SGL. 05 - 10 

    IN THE STATE CIVIL SERVICE ELIGIBLE FOR PROMOTION ON 1STJANUARY AND 1ST JULY 2007

The promotion examination for officers on SGL. 05 to 10 in the State Civil Service who matured for promotion on1st January and 1st July 2007 will hold on Wednesday 5th March, 2008 at the Delta State University, Anwai Campus, Asaba as follows:

(i)   Officers on SGL'S. 09 and 10: 12.30pm - 3.00pm 

       Venue: Ogbeogonogo Hall (Anwai Campus) Asaba.

(ii)    Officers on SGL'S. 07 and 08: 12.30pm - 3.00pm 

         Venue: Banking and Finance Hall (Anwai Campus) Asaba.

(iii)    Officers on SGL'S 05 and OS: 3.30pm - 6.00pm  

          Venue: Ogbeogonogo Hall, (Anwai Campus) Asaba.

2. The examination will be held in three subject areas:

(a)       Government Rules and Regulations comprising Public Service 

            Rules and Financial Regulations - 1 hour paper

 

(b)       Professional paper which focuses on the candidates career field - 1 hour paper

 

(c)         General knowledge '- 20 minutes paper

 

3. It is pertinent to emphasize that only officers who registered and participated in the recently concluded 2007 compulsory Refresher course at Labour House, Asaba have been assigned examination numbers and would be allowed to write the examination. The list of names, posts, dates of present appointment and examination numbers of participants are attached hereto for dispatch to relevant Ministries/Extra-Ministerial Departments. Officers are expected to write their examination numbers not names on their answer scripts. The names and examination numbers of Officers pooled In the General Executive/Secretarial/Typists, Messengerial and Allied Cadres is being sent to the Directorate of Establishments while that of other centrally deployed officers such as Administrative officers is being sent to the office of the Head of Service for necessary action,

4. Officers are advised to conduct themselves properly and avoid any form of examination malpractice. Any further enquire should be directed to the department  of Recruitment and Promotions, Civil Service Commission, Asaba.

5. The Commission avails itself the opportunity to wish all candidates the best of luck.

RE-EXTENDED INTERVIEW FOR CONVERSION OF SERVING 

OFFICERS WHO PASSED ASCON BETWEEN 2002 AND 2007

,
The Civil Service Commission recently constituted a Panel of Assessors to screen candidates who passed the Public Service examination conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) between 2002 and 2007 with a view to recommending them to the commission for placement into the Administrative and Special Departmental cadres of the Civil Service. Accordingly, the extended interview has been scheduled for 27th -- 29th February, 2008 at the Staff Training Centre, Asaba.

2. The Commission is however, presently inundated with. enquiries from some officers as to whether or not those candidates who passed the previous extended interview but could not appear before the Commission for the final (Oral) interview be exempted from the forthcoming 2008 extended interview. The Commission wishes to clarify for the benefit of all such candidates that they are required to participate in the 2008 extended interview in order to determine their eligibility for the Commission's final interview.

3. Heads of Departments are kindly requested to bring the contents of this circular to the notice of concerned officers for their guidance and strict compliance.
