MR. C. C. AGBELE

Accountant-General

(Delta State)

Mr. Cyril Chima Agbele was born on 25th October, 1960 at Uteh Okpu, Ika North Local Government Area of Delta State. He attended Abavo Grammar School, Abavo (1973 to 1978) and University of Benin where he obtained B.Sc(Hons) in Accountancy in 1983 and Masters in Business Administration (1995). He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 1990 and became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) in 2003. He is also a member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

PUBLIC SERVICE RECORD

Mr Agbele was a Lecturer at the College of Education, Nsugbe (NYSC, 1983-84). He joined the defunct Bendel State Civil Service in 1985. Upon the creation of Delta State in 1991, he directly assisted the first Accountant-General in establishing the Office of The Accountant-General in the State. He held various positions including Director, Planning, Research & Statistics (DPRS) and Director, Treasury Department (DTD). He was also part time lecturer in Finance and Executorship, Trusteeship Law and Accounts at the Delta State University (Anwai Campus) Asaba. He was appointed as the Accountant-General, of Delta State in March, 2004.

AWARDS AND LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

1.      Received Delta State Government Award for Excellence (1995)

2.      Received Merit Award as Distinguished Alumnus of University of Benin

3.      Nigerian Statistical Association Award for Excellence;

4.      He has been Consultant to the State Civil Service Commission on Recruitment of Senior Officers since 1999.

5.      Received State commendation as member of the Committee to Pay Contractors of the defunct State Primary Education Board;

6.     Was member of Committee to Review Operations of Delta Transport Service Ltd (Delta Line);

7.     External Consultant to Federal Medical Centre on recruitment of Accountants
