Mr. Bernard Okumagba

MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC PLANNING
MR. BERNARD OBOATARHIEYEREN OKUMAGBA was born on April 7, 1967 in Okere-Urhobo in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. His father is the late Chief Daniel Okumagba who was a frontline Urhobo Leader and politician and also the Governorship Candidate of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in Bendel state during the 1979 elections.
Bernard attended Agbassa Primary School in Warri from 1972 to 1977, Government College Ughelli from 1977 to 1983 and University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1983 to 1987 were he obtained a B.Sc Accountancy (2nd Class Upper Division). Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in May 1991.
Bernard served in Ministry of Finance, Akure, Ondo State in 1988(NYSC) and has worked in various Banks (1991 to 2007) - Over 15 years. Banking experience as follows:-

Oceanic Bank Plc (1991 to 1994)(Financial Planning & Budget and Credit & Marketing Division), Crystal Bank of Africa Plc (1994 to 1996)(Risk Management Division), Fidelity Bank Plc (June 1996 to 2002)(Head of Risk Management, Chief Inspector of the Bank & Head of Internal Control and Commercial & Corporate Banking Division), First Atlantic Bank Pic (2002 to 2003) (Corporate Banking Division and Branch Development), First Atlantic Asset Management Limited (2003 to 2004)(Chief Executive Officer), United Bank for Africa Plc (Nov. 2004 to August 2007), Principal Manager in the Consumer & Commercial Banking Division.
LEADERSHIP POSITIONS HELD AND PUBLIC SERVICE RECORD
1. Elected as Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Students Union Government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Enugu Campus) from 1984 to 1985.
2. Served as a member of the Board of Directors of Delta Transport Company Limited (Delta Line) from 1994 to 1996. Appointed to the Board of the company by the then Military Administrator of Delta State - Colonel Bassey Asuquo.
3. Served as Financial Secretary of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, Lagos Branch from August 2005 to July 2007.
4. Leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri South Local Government Area.
