MINISTRY OF EDUCATION Mrs. Elizabeth Titi Uvoh-Gardner was born 7th January, 1955 in Kano City, Nigeria. She was appointed a Member of the Delta State Executive Council and deployed as Honourable Commissioner for Education on August 17,2007. Until her present appointment, Mrs. Uvoh-Gardner was a Special Adviser, (Science and Higher Education) and later Coordinator and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Delta State Higher Education Project, comprising of the three Delta State-owned Polytechnics at Ogwashi-Uku, Ozoro and Otefe as well as the College of Physical Education, Mosogar. Mrs. Uvoh-Gardner who is married with children hails from Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. She had her early education at St. Louis College, Bompai Kano from 1966-1967 and Adeola Odutola Comprehensive High School, Ijebu-Ode from 1968-1972. Uvoh-Gardner later graduated from the University of Benin City in 1976 with a B.Sc. Hons. Degree in Microbiology and two years later obtained the Master of Science degree in Food and Management Science from the University of London. The Education Commissioner is a well-versed academician with a wealth of experience in research and lecturing. She was involved in supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students in seminar and research projects at the Department of Micro-Biology, University of Benin. Aside from her experience in the area of scholarship, she has worked for eight years in the Nigeria High Commission, London. During the period, she worked in the education section and was instrumental to the placing of several children in very competitive primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the UK. No doubt, her wealth of experience in the field of the academics influenced her appointment in May, 2003 as a Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Science and Higher Education. In this position, she coordinated and served as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Delta State Higher Education Project. Mrs. Uvoh-Gardner is a workaholic, who was mobilized as one of the pioneer arrowheads that midwifed the Delta State Higher Project. A practical scientist, Mrs. Uvoh-Gardner in April 2007, organised an all Stakeholders National Science and Technology Workshop aimed at providing Delta State with a State Policy on Science and Technology.
