The Ministry of Education(Basic and Secondary) one is the largest ministry's in Delta State. It comprises of several parastatals that render services to all social, economic and political groups and people across the entire state and beyond.

It is noteworthy that one policy thrust of this administration is an aggressive approach to teaching and learning at all levels, through the renovation, rehabilitation and construction of school buildings as well as provision of classroom furniture for both staff and pupils so as to make the teaching and learning process interesting and achievable.

Also, the government in response to the nation’s policy on French as a second language, encouraged the teaching and learning of French language in the State’s public post-primary schools,and also selected six secondary schools as pilot schools for the effective teaching and learning of the French language.The government recently built a befitting French language centre at Asaba,named “Christie Akako French Language Resource Centre”.

The Ministry of Education (Basic and Secondary) is basically responsible for primary ,junior and the senior secondary level of education in the State.

The Ministry also ensures curriculum's are the same in all the schools ,and strict monitoring of all the schools in the state,making sure that teachers adhere to the rules of the ministry.
