The Ministry of Energy is charged with the responsibility of Energy Policies in the state. It is also tasked with the duty of Urban and Rural Electrification. The Ministry undertakes the duty of Electricity Power Supply, and Engineering Services. It was created to address the energy paradox in Delta State that is the leading producer of energy resources (oil and gas) in Nigeria.

As part of its main policy plank, the ministry is committed to increase access for Deltans to modern household energy fuels and appliances as well as the deployment of renewable energy systems such as solar systems and biogas energy. The ministry is currently in collaboration with a lot of partners to enhance the usability of its resources for mankind.

The ministry’s projects are meant to impact the people at the community, state and national levels in Nigeria. It is designed to be beneficial across several section of the society in the urban and rural areas with a focus on moving people in various socio-economic levels up to the energy ladder to improve the energy system of the state.
