Barr. (MRS) LYNA ALIYA OCHOLORBarr.(Mrs.) Lyna Aliya Ocholor was appointed Acting Clerk of Delta State House of Assembly on 17th October, 2011, sequel to the redeployment of the then Clerk of the House. Before ascending to the topmost position of Chief Accounting Officer of the State Legislature, she had been Director of the Assembly’s Legal Department and later, Deputy Clerk of the House.
Lyna was born on the 10th of September 1967, she hails from Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. For the primary education, she attended Temezibau Primary school, Okpokunou and proceeded to Tilley Gyado College, North Bank Makurdi, Benue State, where she obtained her WAEC Certificate.
Lyna had shone in the literary discipline at the secondary level and so it was little wonder when she gained admission into the University of Maiduguri to study Law. In 1988, she graduated with an LLB degree. She was later called to Bar in 1990, upon completing her programme leading to the BL Certificate from the Nigeria Law School.
Over the years, she had garnered some experience having worked, first during her NYSC year with a law firm- Aliyu Umar &Co, 1989-1990 in Kaduna, then with A.D. Ajijola & Co. also in Kaduna as a pupil council between 1990-1992. Having spent some time in the North as a young lady, she decided to move homewards and was lucky to clinch a apolitical appointment in her local government- Burutu, where she was appointed Supervisor Councillor of Education and she held the position between 1992-1993.
On the completion of stint at the council, she started private practice, where she practised between 1994-1996. Lyna joined Delta State House of Assembly in 1998 where she has been working till date. She is happily married to Mr. Harrison Ocholor and they are blessed with a son.
