Delta state Gov. Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has assured the Hausa/ Fulani communities in the state of adequate protection of their lives and properties by the state government. He said that measures have been taken to protect all northerners in the state and therefore no need for them to panic or relocate from the state.
Dr. Uduaghan, who made this call at meeting with the Hausa / Fulani communities in Asaba, said that his administration sees members of Arewa communities as indigenes of Delta state that they would regard Asaba as their home. He promise to identify with them by promoting and boosting the relationship that has been in existence since hundred ago.
The governor said that the Commissioner of Police, Director of SSS and Army commander are on top of the security challenges to ensure that nobody is harmed. He enjoined them to report any problem to the traditional ruler in their neighborhood as well as identify strange and unscrupulous visitors who could constitute threat to the state and advise them to live harmoniously with their neighbors and desist from carrying dangerous weapons.
Responding on behalf of the Arewa community in Delta State, Hon. Bawa Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for giving them protection and for appointing their son as special assistant adding that his people are indigenes of the State especially as their fathers, grand-fathers and great- grand fathesr had lived in Delta State for more than 200 years.
Hon. Abdullah said many of their parents married Deltans and were born in the State and they therefore have no place to run to. He also explained that some of their parents held elective positions and fought with the late Dennis Osadebey for the creation of Delta State.
