Driven by the passion for a technology-based development, the Ibori administration created the Directorate of Science and Technology. Happily, the present administration is building on the initiative.
The policy thrust of the State Government is to achieve a technologically driven economy that can fully create, innovate, invent and adapt meaningful and strong linkages driven by brain power, skills and diligence capable of providing sustainable high quality life to Deltans.
In order to achieve this, several strategies and programme on ICT development, empowerment of youths, strengthening existing and future ICT based systems and processes and computer literacy and awareness programmes are currently being run. The Directorate of Science and Technology has a mandate to jump-start and implement short medium and long term science and technology deliverables with strong application of the strategic visions in keying into and acting appropriately in a technology based era. This policy thrust it is hoped would enable Delta State break into her dream of becoming a major player in the Science and Technology sector by the year 2020.
