Mr. Oma Djebah

MINISTRY OF INFORMATION

Mr. Oma Djebah was born on February 21, 1967. He was appointed member of the Delta state Executive Council on 5th September 2007.


Mr. Djebah was until his appointment as commissioner, a Deputy Editor with THISDAY Group of Newspapers. He is one of Africa's most outstanding advocates of Communication and Peace Journalism as an agent of Peace-building, branding and sustainable development.

With a professional experience spanning 17 years, Mr Djebah was educated at the University of Calabar (B.A. Hons, Theatre Arts with specialization in media studies); University of Lagos (Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy, MILD) and Orebro University, Sweden (Masters Degree in Global Journalism, M. A)

Mr. Djebah has a public service record both at national and international levels. He was member of the 23-man presidential team of experts inaugurated in 2002 with a mandate to provide the requisite professional and intellectual basis for NEPAD in Nigeria. In 2006, he was the only African editor on a 5-man panel of experts constituted by the United Nations (UN) Headquarters which examined the institutional challenges to Africa's development.

Djebah was member of the 4-man Nigeria Delegation to the inter-country Experience sharing on APRM (on NEPAD) in 2006 while also in the same year, he was one of the three Nigerian Professionals in the field of media, ICT and Development Studies who were specially invited by the Government of South Africa and Highway Africa (hosted by Rhodes University) as guest speaker of the Highway Africa conference in South Africa. From 2005 till date he remains Guest speaker on media and journalism in Africa at Orebro University, Sweden.

Before his appointment as commission Djebah served as member of the 2007 Delta State Transition Committee inaugurated by His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, Governor of Delta State.

Member of several professional and international associations and recipient of various recognitions, commendations, and awards, Djebah is happily married and blessed with a son.
