In a bid to attain the Human Capital Development agenda of the State Government, the State Head of Service, Dr. Sam Okpokpor has embarked on a familiarization tour to ongoing projects, Directorates and various offices within the State. Dr. Okpokpor in the company of the Honorable Commissioner for Project Monitoring, Chief Ejaife Odebala, visited the ongoing three (3) storey building project of the Office of the Head of Service along Okpanam Road, Asaba. While speaking, Chief Odebala urged the contractor to quicken the project, stating the Governor's interest for immediate completion of the job. The team also proceeded to the Staff Training Centre and the Delta Computer Centre along St. Bridgid's Road for a thorough inspection and to gain awareness of problems arising within these offices. Members of the team were also at the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions where they were shown round the various offices by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Andrew Okogba. In his speech, Dr. Okpokpor said the tour is geared towards intimate relationship with the offices and expressed his desire to improve the whole service by familiarizing himself with possible problems for efficient service delivery in the State. He further noted how the tour has coincided with the State Budget defence, coming up tomorrow, Wednesday, September 10, 2008 and promised to raise the problems these offices are confronted with during the defence session. The Chairman of the Veterinary Department of the Medical and Health Workers Union in the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Harrison P. Oboghwo has appealed to the state government to recruit more staff into the Department in order to solve the problem of under staffing facing the technology and technicians cadre. The appeal was made when the executive members of Medical and Health workers union visited the State Head of Service, Dr. Sam Okporkpor recently in his office. The Chairman also appealed to the state government to provide more office to solve the problem of accommodation facing the staff even as he appealed for regular promotion for staff. Responding, Dr. Sam Okporkpor promised to carry their request to the state government, stressing that government will do its best to recruit more staff into the Medical and Health workers carder of the Ministry. The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has signed the State Pension Reform Bill into law. The State Head of Service Dr. Sam Okpokpor stated this recently when he received a group of Pension Fund Administrators in his office Dr. Okpokpor charged the Pension Fund Administrators (PF As) to articulated their policies and values in order to unveil their packages for the State. While speaking, the Pension Fund Administrators observed the need for the State government to give its citizens enough sensitization; thorough documentation and proper cancellation of existing pins before the law was enacted, to ease the implementation of new pension scheme. The Pension Fund Administrators (PF As) present during the visit are lEI Anchor Pension Managers, Pension Alliance Limited (PAL), ARM, Amana Capital and First guarantee. Others include Premium Pension, Pension Sigma, Legacy Pension, First Alliance and Fidelity Pension.
