Barr. Ejaife Omizu Odebala LL.B B.L

Honourable Commissioner for Project Monitoring

THE COMMISSIONER FOR PROJECT MONITORING

Hon. (Chief) Barr. Ejaife Omizu Odebala. has a very humble beginning. He was born on November 12th 1965 in the United Kingdom to the family of Barr. and Barr. (Mrs.) Joseph Young Odebala, legal luminaries who hailed from Okwovwori in Sapele Local Government Area of' Delta State.

Hon. Odebala's path in life has been ordered by God Almighty. A man who discovered early in life God's purpose for his life in the service of' his people in particular and humanity in general. He is today, an accomplished Lawyer, a Lawmaker and a multi-dimensional politician of reckonable repute.

He attended Ayomanor Primary School, Sapele 1971-1977 and Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma between 1987-1991 where he studied Law. The same year, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School Lagos where he obtained B.L in Law (1992).

He also briefly attended Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt where he studied Business Education. He did his National Youth Service Corps (1991 - 1995)

CAREER EXPERIENCE

He was a legal practitioner with his family firm J.Y. Odebala and Co (1995-1998), during which period he carved a niche for himself in the legal profession.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE

During the ill-fated transition programme of the Abacha administration, he contested and won the election into the Delta State House of Assembly under the Congress for National Consensus (CNC) between 1997/1998.

The House was not inaugurated before the sudden death of the Head of' State, General San, Abacha. When the Abdulsalam, Abubaka, regime lifted the ban on partisan politics in 1998, Hon. Odebala joined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and was elected again to represent Sapele in the State Assembly in 1999.

Following his outstanding and inspiring performance in the Assembly between 1999-2003, his constituents in the 2003 general elections, against all odds, returned him to office as their representative in the house for a record second term.

As a career Lawyer and Politician of immense repute, he was given varying responsibilities in the Delta State House of Assembly which , includes two times Principal Officer (Chief' Whip) of the House between June 1999 - March 2000, and February, 2002 - June 2003.

He also served as Chairman and member of various committees in the House. Between 1999 -2003 and 2003 - 2007, he served as Chairman and member of the following committees:

House Committee on Energy

Again, because of his dynamism and self illuminating in the dark waters of Politics, Chief Odebala took another bold step in the Political Ladder by joining the crowded governorship race in the state. Though he lost, but did not lose his face, fame, Principle and essence in politics. He is a very strong believer of "Politics without Bitterness."
