PRESS RELEASE

UDUAGHAN SET TO TACKLE DRAINAGE PROBLEM, PLANS DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS ON NATURAL WATERWAYS

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has promised Deltans that his administration would bring an end to the drainage problem in the State and provide accessible roads for the benefit of the people.
Dr. Uduaghan, who made the promise during the 47th birthday thanksgiving of his wife Sheila at the First Baptist Church Warri, said that his administration was faced with the challenge of providing good drainage system and roads for the people of the State.
He stated that the drainage would cost about four Billion Naira and promised that the project should be ready before the next rainy season.
Governor Uduaghan disclosed that the drainage problem was as a result of blockage of the natural water ways by buildings and noted that such buildings would have to be pulled down in the interest of the greater public. The Governor however assured that compensation would be paid only to owners of structures who have approval from the Ministry of Lands and Survey.

Explaining further he said, “I will have so many enemies in carrying out this project because the natural water ways have been blocked by buildings. The buildings will be demolished, the State Government would pay compensation only to owners of buildings that have government approval to build them.”

He also explained that his administration has mapped out strategies to construct more roads in the state and improve on the energy sector.
Governor Uduaghan disclosed that government would create an enabling environment for youth employment in order to check the unemployment problem in the state.
His words, “Government alone cannot provide jobs for the unemployed youths in the state but we would help them to be self reliant by providing the infrastructure that would aid job creation in line with our three point agenda.”

Dr. Uduaghan who used the occasion to thank God for all the favours that have come his way said it was uncommon grace of God that placed him in the position he is today.
“I never planned to become Governor, I wasn't a good politician or a good orator but God chose me to be Governor, he gave me uncommon grace. Continuing, he said “If you are alone at times you may not get this uncommon grace, you need to be married and God will sustain the grace through a prayerful wife.”

He used the opportunity to commend women for the spiritual role they are playing in their families and appealed to them to continue to be prayerful because God has made most of them spiritual heads of their families.
According to him, “I was brought into this world by a prayerful mother, I married a prayerful wife and have a prayerful mother in-law, they have all helped me to be where I am today through the grace of God.”
The Governor challenged men to be more prayerful and appreciate the wives that God gave to them.

Delivering the sermon, titled 'Uncommon Grace', Pastor Sam Tsegbeyeri stated that Grace is an unmerited favor from God to man and that it was a privilege and not a right.

According to him, “We are running a race in life to fulfill our destiny; we need God in this race in order to win the crown of glory in the end.”
The pastor then appealed to the State Government to address the problem of unemployment in the State as well as the return of Mission schools to their owners as a way of improving moral standards in schools in the state.
