Hon. Chiedu Ebie was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 having obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Benin (Benin City). His work experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer saw him work with some of the top Law firms in present day Nigeria.

His proven abilities and track record of quantum successes spurred him to the position of partner in a short space of time; as partner, he was involved in advising clients of diverse nature in areas such as Privatization, Capital Market Transactions, Joint Venture investments, Company Secretary, Corporate Finance, Real estate development and Oil and Gas, to name a few.

In 2003, he transited from legal practice into the Oil and Gas industry at the invitation of a Group of Oil investors to facilitate their bid for the 2003 marginal field-licensing round.

He went on to become the Managing Director/CEO of Millennium Oil and Gas Company Limited (an indigenous exploration and production company, and the operator of the Oza marginal field located onshore –Niger Delta) in 2010. During his period as the CEO, the Company witnessed rapid growth with significant gains towards commercial production with the de-risking of the asset and raising about $30million in Equity and Debt features from Nigerian financial institutions and partners.

With over 20 years post “Call” experience in Corporate and Commercial practice and in the upstream sector of the Oil and Gas industry, Hon. Chiedu Ebie was appointed into the Delta State Executive Council by the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in 2015.

A people oriented individual and a team player, his passion for education whilst in the corporate sphere and his track record of always attaining success, propped him as a perfect fit to spearhead the revolution needed to restore Delta State at her rightful place as the pacesetter in education in Nigeria.

The translation to reality, of his vision has resulted in the significant improvement in the overall standard of education in the state with special emphasis on technical and vocational education.

His recognition of human capital as the foundation of any establishment informs the numerous trainings and workshops organized to train and re-train teachers to improve their techniques and methods of teaching.

With the inception of the second tennure of Governor Okowa, he has been appointed as the Secretary to the State Government.

Hon. Chiedu Ebie is married of Kehinde and they have three lovely daughters.
